He was a key part of seven World Series championships and appeared in 12 Fall Classics, setting several records, including most World Series home runs (18). Despite chronic injuries, particularly to his knees, Mantle remained one of the most feared hitters of his era. A cultural icon of 1950s and ’60s baseball, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1974.
