Notes: Photographer Chris Cuffaro captured this classic image for Creem Magazine about 2 months before the release of Nevermind and “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Coincidentally, Novoselic wears a Sonic Youth shirt, and Thurston Moore once said of the magazine: “Having a certain sense of humor in the rocknroll cultureCreem nailed it in a way that nobody else has. It informed a lot of peoples sensibilities.”

Nirvana’s Geffen record label then used the bathroom shot for this 1991 promo photo, which Cobain, Grohl and Novoselic later signed in bold blue marker. The band’s fully signed photos by Cuffaro are few and far between.
